Music @ 6:57 PM

Why doesn't anyone appreciate the oldies anymore?
I think I'm going to have to date a 75 year old man, in order to find someone who enjoys the type of music I do. IE, jazz, big band, blues etc.
I know that a lot of my friends are music snobs and listen to a lot of rock and alternative and punk and much more. And yes, I enjoy these new bands just as much as they do.
But pay homage to the originals! And don't knock 'em!
Why do I love jazz/big band/blues?
Because it transports me to a time that I was never a part of. It lets me imagine, it lets me feel. There's nothing more soulful that Billie Holiday's voice as it croons
Gloomy Sunday to you. Or anything that makes me want to dance as much as when I hear Otis Redding screeching
Papa's Got A Brand New Bag. Or when I hear
any big band group, the cacophony of instruments melding together to create harmony.
Hell, I'll listen to opera, Italian and French love songs and classical music too. These tunes bring me someplace else, gives me emotions and feelings that modern music today hardly does.
I just wish I could meet someone who'd appreciate these today. Luckily jazz and blues are getting more popular in the younger crowd but no one my age wants to go to hear big band! Or go to an opera (although I have to admit my first visit to the opera at age 15 did leave me enthralled for 15 minutes and then slightly bored for the rest). It looks like my next conquest is going to have to be a gay man; I met this awesome guy at a dingy bar in Manhattan who started talking about his great record collection and had me salivating over how perfect he was. . .and then his extremely cute boyfriend walked in.
Just my luck.
