The Bechdel Rule @ 12:01 PM

The Bechdel Rule

Anyone ever heard of this? It's kind of interesting. It's a rule book or check list made by a cartoonist, Alison Bechdel, who had gotten tired of the female cliches in movies. Her checklist stated that the movie must:

(a) include at least two women,
(b) who have at least one conversation with each other
(c) about something other than a love interest
Can anyone name any?

(This is an unfortunately thing that I've noticed when my girlfriends and I get together; our talk mainly turns into MEN. If I notice it getting too Man Crazy, I'll try to swerve the conversation into something else, popular music/television/books. This is also kind of why I have this blog. There's no one I know that is actually interested in these kinds of things and would want to talk about it, so this is kind of my feminist outlet. Such a shame. I was listening to the radio the other day and actually heard a girl flat out refusing to be called a feminist, assuming it as an insult. I was so disappointed.)
